A custom speaker project that should take 60 days can easily take 90. In our experience the extra month almost never comes from the production line — it comes from four decisions that get made too late.
1. Freeze the brief before the drawings
Changing the target price band half-way through development reopens the driver selection, the amplifier choice and often the cabinet itself. Spend one more meeting at the start and the whole project compresses.
2. Agree the appearance in 3D, not in comments
Words like “more premium” cost weeks. A 3D rendering with real colours and a material sample in your hand settles the same question in a day. We provide free 2D and 3D drawings for that reason.
3. Approve the sample by photograph, then by courier
While the physical sample is in transit you can already review the photos and acoustic test report and raise objections. By the time the box arrives, only final confirmation is left.
4. Prepare the paperwork early
Packaging artwork, logo files, carton marks and certification requirements should be collected while the prototype is still being tested, not after the order is confirmed.
What the timeline looks like when it goes well
- Concept and 3D drawing: 3–5 days
- Design freeze and prototype build: 10–15 days
- Sample testing and approval: 7–10 days
- Mass production and inspection: 20–30 days depending on volume
That is a realistic route from a rough idea to a container of branded speakers in about two months — provided the decisions above are made on time.
