Speaker Certifications Explained: CE, RoHS, FCC and CCC

Certification is one of the most common sources of delay in a speaker shipment, and it is almost always a documentation problem rather than an engineering one. Here is what the main marks actually cover.

The marks you will meet most often

  • CE (EU) — the European conformity mark. For active speakers this means the EMC, Low Voltage and RED (radio) directives have been assessed.
  • RoHS — restricts lead, mercury, cadmium and other hazardous substances in electrical equipment. Nearly always required together with CE.
  • FCC (US) — covers radio-frequency emissions. Bluetooth speakers are normally certified as an intentional radiator.
  • CCC (China) — mandatory for products sold in the domestic Chinese market.
  • BIS / SASO / SAA — the equivalents you will be asked for in India, Saudi Arabia and Australia respectively.

Why the factory matters more than the certificate

A certificate issued against a sample means very little if the production line later changes a driver or a power supply. What protects you is a factory that runs a documented quality management system — which is why buyers increasingly ask for ISO 9001 as a baseline, and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 as evidence of a stable, auditable operation.

MinYi Audio holds ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certification, and our export team will tell you upfront which test reports are available for a given model and which need to be commissioned for your market.
